• Background: Hotomi was born in a fishermen town in north Okinawa. His father was once a Samurai who fought in the Ōnin War under the orders of Hosokawa Katsumoto. After seeing the horrors of war, he escaped with his wife to Okinawa, and lived as fishermen, swearing that he will never raise his sword again.
  
  One year later his daughter Hotomi was born. Hiding his bloody past to her, he raised Hotomi in a paceful way, but she couldn't resist her tomboy attitude and usually fighted with other boys.
  
  When she was 15, a group of bandits assaulted her home and killed her mother before the very eyes of his father, who was protecting Hotomi.
  
  After these tragic events, Hotomi started to take training in the sword with the will to avenge her mother. Though her father was against it, he finally accepted her determination as a matter of fate.
  
  When she turned 17, his father told her the truth about his past as a samurai, and the reason why he didn't do anything during the assault of the bandits, who were indeed yakuza paid by the shogun to get rid of traitors. She couln't forgive him and left her home in rage, heading to Japan.
  
  When she arrived to Japanese coast, she heard the story of the SDL, and thought it was a good way to investigate for the assassins of her mother and get some real training at the same time.

  As she was heading to Kyoto in the search for clues that would lead her to her mother's murderers, she teamed up with Shakka, Julius, Kimiko and Tonaka, from the Emerald Mirage, a weapon manufacturer, in her journey. Later, she accepted to work for the Emerald Mirage to get some money to survive. Now she stays in a mid-town city half way to Kyoto.
